Frequently Asked Questions

What is Raleigh Mobile Fitness and how does it work?

Raleigh Mobile Fitness is Raleigh's private mobile training service. We bring a fully equipped gym and a CSCS-certified strength coach directly to your home — squat rack, barbells, dumbbells, plates, the works — and deliver a professional strength and conditioning session in your driveway or outdoor space. You walk outside, you train, you walk back in. We handle everything else.

Who is this for?

RMF was built for busy professionals, executives, and families in the Raleigh area who are serious about their health but can't make a traditional gym work consistently. If you're 30 to 55, your time is genuinely valuable, and you've watched gym memberships go unused because life keeps getting in the way, this was designed for you. Our clients are capable people who need a system that works around their life, not the other way around.

How is this different from a regular personal trainer?

A few ways. Most personal trainers work out of a gym they don't own, on equipment shared with hundreds of other members, coaching between interruptions. RMF brings a dedicated setup entirely to you — the equipment is ours, the session is 100% yours, and there's no commute, no parking, and no waiting.

The coaching standard is also different. James holds a CSCS — Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist — from the NSCA. It's the same credential held by strength coaches at the collegiate and professional level, and it's not common in the private training world. You're getting elite-level programming, not a template.

What equipment do you bring?

The truck is fully loaded. Every session includes access to a squat rack, Olympic barbell, dumbbells up to 80lbs, 350+ lbs of plates, resistance bands, and mobility tools. Everything needed for a complete professional strength and conditioning session. Nothing is missing, nothing is shared, and nothing needs to be wiped down by someone else before you use it.

Do I need any equipment or space?

Nothing on your end. A standard driveway or flat outdoor surface is all we need. We pull up, set up, coach the session, and break everything down when we're done. If you have a garage, that works too. You don't need to own a single piece of equipment or clear out a room.

What areas do you serve?

We currently serve Raleigh, North Hills, Cary, Wake Forest, Brier Creek, North Raleigh, and surrounding areas across the Triangle. If you're not sure whether you're in range, reach out — we'll let you know quickly and we're always expanding our service area.

What does the first session look like?

We start with a movement assessment. Before any serious loading happens, James wants to understand how you move, where you've had issues or injuries, and what your baseline looks like. This takes about 10-20 minutes and shapes everything that comes after. From there, your program is built around what was found — not a generic template — and the real training begins. Most clients leave the first session surprised by how thorough it is.

How do sessions work on an ongoing basis?

You'll have consistent session times that fit your schedule. Most clients train two to three times per week, typically early morning or over lunch. James shows up on time, every time, with the truck loaded and a plan ready. Sessions are 60 minutes from first rep to last. Your program is updated regularly based on your progress, so you're always working toward something, never just going through the motions.

How do you track progress?

Every session is logged in your personal coaching app. Strength metrics, sets, reps, weights, and mobility benchmarks are all recorded and visible to you at any time. James reviews your data before each session so programming adjusts in real time based on how you're actually responding, not just what was originally planned. You'll always know where you started, where you are, and where you're headed.

What happens if it rains?

We work around it. Sessions move to your garage, covered porch, or any covered outdoor area without losing a beat. In genuinely unsafe conditions — severe storms, lightning — we'll reschedule at no penalty. In practice this rarely happens. Most weather concerns are handled without changing the session at all.

Can I pause or cancel my package?

Yes. We're not a gym with a 12-month cancellation clause. Life happens — travel, illness, family, work. Reach out directly and we'll work with you. Our goal is a long-term coaching relationship built on results, not a contract you feel trapped in. Clients who want to be here train better than clients who have to be here.
